Cybersecurity Analyst
I watch systems, chase signals, test assumptions, and try to keep preventable nonsense from becoming someone else's incident report.
Security analyst. Builder. DJND. Introvert by design.
I'm DJames617, the DoWell Nerd. Security analyst by profession, web and music production hobbyist by choice, DJND when the mood hits. I like useful things, honest work, and problems that stay solved. People mistake quiet for unclear. That's their issue.
Signal
My goal is to become a walking VAR for cybersecurity. For now, I work the analyst path, build what helps, and keep learning because guessing is expensive.
I watch systems, chase signals, test assumptions, and try to keep preventable nonsense from becoming someone else's incident report.
I like building pages and tools because the browser is honest. It either works or it doesn't. People could learn from that.
I am introverted, not confused. I do not owe the room a show. Useful, honest, and focused is enough.
Origin
Some names are given. Some follow you. Some you outgrow because staying the same would be embarrassing.
I grew up in Boston's rougher neighborhoods in the 90's. I was always told that I was smart, and that would help me get out of those neighborhoods one day. My problem was I wanted my life to change then.
The moniker stuck. I changed the part that mattered: the outcome.
I got my hands on an old WANG X386. It was broken, so I had to learn how to fix it. When it finally booted, the lesson was simple: broken things are not useless or mysterious once you stop being scared of them.
For over 20 years I have been trying to make computing easier and safer for the people around me. Risk, vulnerabilities, monitoring, detection, remediation: different labels for the same basic job. Find the weak point before it finds you.
Receipts
I started my studies at WGU in May of 2022 and finished my Master's degree in August 2024. I took and passed 42 courses along the way. Some were easy because I had already lived in the material. Some made me earn every inch.
The Ne'er-Do-Well Nerd became the DoWell Nerd. Bachelor's degree. Master's degree. Active certifications. No speech required.

After Hours
I build pages, make sounds, mix tracks, and chase whatever problem is interesting enough to keep me awake.
I build weird little corners of the internet until they start making sense. The more I learn, the more trouble I can cause productively.
I like making sounds behave. Sometimes the idea in my head cooperates. Sometimes it files a complaint and becomes a different track.
A room full of people is easier when the music does the talking. That arrangement works for me.
Elsewhere
The doors are labeled. Curiosity can do the rest.
